Hello there!! I'm Misha. I'm autistic. I really like music. And you know what my favourite band is? Yeah, I bet you couldn't tell, seeing as this whole page is themed after Motionless In White. I'm being sarcastic, of course they're my favourite band LOL. This is just a little digital shrine dedicated to them and how much they inspire me :)
INTRO + TABLE OF CONTENTS

Let me paint you a picture: a 15-year-old Misha sits in his room. He's experiencing his first year of public school after being homeschooled for fur-ever. He's grappling with not only the horrors of puberty, but the fact that his hairdresser just dealt him the worst fucking haircut in the world.
(Really, it was BAD; I showed her a picture of Gerard Way, and she gave me a straight-cut bob by the chin. I was trying so hard not to cry, I couldn't bring myself to say anything.)
Anyway. He's listening to his usual 15-year-old-sad-teenager-in-an-abusive-household rotation; My Chemical Romance, Pierce The Veil, Ghost, Celldweller. But it's not enough. Spotify is on shuffle, and he's looking for something new; something that will tickle that frustration inside of him. MCR is not enough for his teenage angst.
(I'm playing it up for funsies, but really, I was fucking miserable. Listening to music was just about the only thing keeping Little Misha from walking onto oncoming traffic.)
On March 8th, 2021 - and I know this, because I apparently wrote it down - Spotify plays a song he doesn't know. It's called Hourglass, by some blokes called Motionless In White. Huh, interesting. He clicks the artist profile.
Oh. Fuck. YES.
This was heavy. Like, compared to the MCR's of the past, this was fucking brutal. It was exactly what he needed.
Ever since then, Misha and Motionless In White have gone hand-in-hand like cookies and cream. Tea and milk. Vampires and gravestones. You get the picture.
So, I guess this is just someplace to gush about the band that, in all seriousness, saved my life. You can thank those guys for me still being alive.

RICKY SHRINE

Ricky "Horror" Olson. Guitarist and songwriter. Misha's idol. In a not creepy way, I think. He just really admires the guy.

Ricky was the band member that immediately caught my eye when I first found Motionless In White. To be fair, at the time, I really just found him pretty. I found everyone pretty. Some things don't change - some do. (For example, Chris is like, total transition goals. Justin is my inspiration to be a better bassist. Vinny is like, the best drummer ever. Ryan has more aura than 90% of the world's population. And Ricky just became, like... The Super Special One. LOL.)
Yes, an actual thing I have hung on my corkboard. Hey, whatever works, works, right?

I think Ricky inspires me because, in a way, I relate to him a lot. Music, occultism, writing. He's also the kind of person I still aspire to be; kind, gentle, talented. Someone who can get up on a stage and play for thousands of people, but still come home and give all his heart to the people he loves. And I mean, I want to write epic fucking riffs like he does. He's just insane.

There's a lot of things I want to say that I just can't put into words. If I wanted to keep it nonchalant, I would probably just say something like, "It comes with the hyperfixation. Autism, am I right fellas!"
If I wanted to be, well, yeschalant, then all I can say is that I look up to Ricky a lot. Musically, certainly, but also just... in a little bit of everything. When you don't have a lot to hold on to, it's nice to have something grandiose to look up to, or give you a reason to keep going. At risk of sounding parasocial as hell, I guess Ricky is one of those reasons to keep going. Wow, that's corny. Alright, no more of that. Here's a collection of like... photos and GIFs and stuff of Ricky. Feast your eyes, ladies and gentlemen and nonbinary folks. Or something.
